variational ($var): pre-tge project research dossier
cutoff: 29 september 2026
i looked into variational because it has a live product while $var is still pre-tge. the official token page points to a q4 2026 launch. i found no active tge, ico, ido, public sale page, or public sale allocation. that is only what i could verify today, and plans can change.
omni is variational's live arbitrum perps app. it uses rfq execution with an integrated liquidity provider. pro, its otc product, is still not live.
the contributor page names lucas schuermann and edward yu, with experience at qu capital and genesis trading. the docs list bain capital crypto, coinbase ventures and dragonfly as backers. the live product and published audits from zellic and spearbit were the strongest signs to me that this is more than a roadmap.
the allocation is where i become cautious: • 32% genesis distribution, fully unlocked at tge • 18% ecosystem reserve, without a detailed release schedule • 50% team and investors, locked for 12 months and then released over at least three years
the docs say revenue directed to the treasury is intended for $var buybacks and burns. total supply, launch price, initial circulation, liquidity allocation and the team versus investor split are still missing. without those numbers, i do not think fdv or initial market cap can be judged properly.
my view is positive on the product but still neutral on the token until the missing numbers are available. that said, the time and effort i've put into perp dexes has usually paid off, and i have a strong feeling this one could be no different.

disclosure: this was prepared for a republic eastern campaigns quest that may award vp. i do not hold $var, received no compensation, and this is not financial advice.
which allocation worries you more, and why?
