Project Research Dossier - Optimum (pre-TGE)

Question: Optimum is selling faster block and blob propagation. The key question is whether validators/builders will pay for that speed, and what role a future token would actually need to play.
What it builds: Optimum’s mumP2P is a sidecar for Ethereum clients designed to replace gossipsub propagation with RLNC (Random Linear Network Coding). The broader goal is a decentralized memory/network layer usable across chains.
Evidence: • ~150ms average block propagation on Ethereum Hoodi testnet • 6–20x faster block/blob delivery versus gossipsub • ~90–95% lower bandwidth usage • 40+ testnet partners and more than $24B of ETH stake connected, according to the project • $11M seed round announced in April 2025, led by 1kx with Robot Ventures, CMT Digital, Spartan, Animoca, GSR and others • Public team and open-source repositories at github.com/getoptimum • No public token ticker, supply, vesting schedule or TGE details found
Interpretation: The technical proposition is measurable rather than purely narrative-driven, which is unusual for a pre-TGE project. The strongest potential customers are validators and builders, not ordinary users. That also creates the main token question: if operators do not need to pay or stake for bandwidth, a token could become optional rather than economically necessary.
Risks: adoption depends on client teams; testnet performance may not translate directly to sustained mainnet load; future gossipsub improvements could narrow the advantage; token utility and investor unlocks remain unknown.
Conclusion: strong technology watchlist, roughly 7/10 on team/product today, but no rating on tokenomics until supply, utility and vesting are public.
