Pacifica: A Self-Funded Solana Perp DEX With No Token Yet. What Can Be Verified Before a TGE?
Written for the quest “Seeing the Long Game” with Goon Party on The Republic.
Project Research Dossier · 0xyvz · 31 October 2026
1. Problem / Question
Pacifica is a perpetuals exchange on Solana with a live points program. It has never announced a token, an airdrop or a sale. The question for a pre-TGE scout is simple: which parts of Pacifica can be verified from primary sources today, and which risks stay unpriced until token documents exist?
Pacifica fits the brief for this quest. It reports no external raise of any kind, has no public sale or active ICO/TGE, and has no announced launchpad.
2. What the project builds
- Product. Pacifica describes itself as a high-performance decentralized trading platform. It launched as a perpetuals venue in June 2025 and has since added spot, real-world-asset and pre-IPO markets (About Us).
- Scope. The docs list 35+ perpetual markets with 3x–50x leverage, spot pairs quoted in USDC, and unified cross margin (Overview).
- Extensions. Around the exchange sit Print (simplified exotic instruments), Swim, community Vaults and Neptune, an agentic strategy tool (About Us).
- Why it matters. It competes for Solana perp flow and adds AI-assisted trading tools on top of a central-limit order book.
3. Data & Evidence (primary sources only)
Funding. The docs say Pacifica has been "entirely self-funded since inception" (About Us). DefiLlama's raises list for Pacifica is empty (checked 31 Oct 2026, DefiLlama API).
Traction. DefiLlama shows Pacifica TVL on Solana at about $23.8M on 31 Oct 2026, down from $27.2M on 13 Oct 2026. It lists no token symbol or CoinGecko ID (DefiLlama API).
Custody model. The docs describe a hot/cold design (Fund Security):
- A small hot wallet run by the matching engine pays withdrawals up to a programmatic limit. The docs give $5M USDC per day as an example.
- Most funds sit in cold vaults governed by a Squads multisig, with time-locked upgrades and spending-limit changes.
The published addresses are:

Audit. BlockSec audited Pacifica's "Perp Contracts" (report v1.0, 24 Apr 2025, linked from Audits).
- Scope. A single Anchor program,
perp-contracts/programs/pacifica-mainnet/src/lib.rs, at commitsb4c48daande3631ce. The program works like a hot wallet that processes deposits and withdrawals based on backend logic. - Findings. 2 Low, 4 recommendations and 2 notes. All findings are marked "Confirmed", not "Fixed".
- Centralization note. The report states that the
withdraw_authorityrole "can withdraw user assets from the vault unlimitedly".
Code. The audited repository (github.com/pacifica-fi/perp-contracts) is not public; it returned 404 on 31 Oct 2026. The pacifica-fi GitHub org does publish python-sdk (last push 16 Feb 2026), pacifica-mcp (23 Oct 2026) and global-intel (17 Apr 2026).
Liquidations. The docs describe three tiers: market liquidation, transfer to a Pacifica backstop liquidator below ⅔ of maintenance margin, then auto-deleveraging of profitable opposing traders. No insurance fund is documented (Liquidations).
Fees. Base tier fees are 0.015% maker and 0.040% taker. The docs do not say where fee revenue goes (Trading Fees).
Points. The program started Thursday 4 September (2025) at 00:00 UTC (Points Program).
- Rate. 10,000,000 points are distributed every week, after snapshots each Thursday at 00:00 UTC.
- Formula. Described as "dynamic and opaque by design".
- Purchase. Points cannot be bought.
- Token. The page promises no token and no conversion.
4. Tokenomics, unlocks and dilution
What is published: nothing. There is no total supply, FDV, circulating float, allocation table, vesting, cliff or emission schedule. Under the Legion due-diligence standard, the absence itself is the main risk signal. Conviction on valuation cannot be built yet.
What can be modelled now:
- Points overhang. About 60 weekly distributions ran between 4 Sep 2025 and 29 Oct 2026. If the documented 10M/week held throughout, about 600M points are outstanding. That figure is my assumption, not a disclosed number. Whatever share of supply goes to points holders will be split across this base, and the conversion rate is unknown.
- Float vs FDV sensitivity. FDV ÷ circulating market cap = 1 ÷ initial float. At 10% float, FDV is 10x market cap; at 20%, 5x; at 30%, 3.3x. A low-float launch with a large points airdrop would put most liquid supply in the hands of farmers at TGE, which is classic day-one sell pressure.
- Insider supply. Because there are no external investors, there is no VC unlock cliff. Founder and treasury allocations, however, will carry all the insider supply. Their cliff length and linear vesting are the first items to check when documents appear.
Checklist for TGE day: total supply; float at TGE; points-holder allocation; team and treasury vesting (12+ month cliff?); emissions and sinks; the next three unlock dates; whether fees accrue to the token.
5. Team verification
| Signal | Status |
|---|---|
| Team backgrounds (Binance, FTX, Coinbase, Jane Street, OpenAI, DeepMind, MIT) | Stated in the docs, but no names are given (About Us) |
| Co-founder identity | Former FTX COO Constance Wang is widely reported as co-founder. This is secondary reporting, not a primary disclosure on Pacifica's docs |
| Code activity | Public SDK and MCP repos are recent. The core exchange and contract code is closed |
| Audit | One audit (April 2025) covering deposit/withdraw only. It predates spot, money market, Vaults and Print |
| Multisig signers | Described as a geo-distributed council. Signers are not named |
6. Key risks
- Technical / custody. Matching and risk run off-chain. The audit leaves the unlimited
withdraw_authoritypower as a note, the audited code is not public, and audit coverage is 18 months old. Hot-wallet losses are capped by design, but cold-vault safety rests on unnamed multisig signers. - Solvency mechanics. There is no documented insurance fund. Losses beyond the backstop fall on profitable traders through ADL.
- Incentives. An opaque points formula invites wash-style "organic" volume. The ~13% TVL drop between 13 and 31 Oct 2026 shows how fast deposits can rotate, and points-driven volume often falls after TGE.
- Execution. Competition is intense in perps: Hyperliquid, Jupiter, Drift, Lighter and others. The expansion into equities, RWA and pre-IPO markets widens scope fast.
- Governance. There is no on-chain governance, and control sits with the company and its multisig.
- Legal / regulatory. Leveraged perps on equities and pre-IPO assets face jurisdiction-specific restrictions. Founder association with FTX adds reputational and regulatory scrutiny.
- Impersonation. With no token, any "PACIFICA" token, presale or claim page is fake by definition.
7. Interpretation
The verifiable part is solid for a self-funded team: a live product, published vault addresses, an external audit, a multisig with time-locks, and consistent fee and liquidation docs. The part that matters for a long-game token thesis is entirely missing. That includes supply, float, vesting and the points conversion, and also full code transparency.
8. Conclusion
Pacifica is a credible pre-TGE watchlist project, but not a conviction position. Upgrade the view only if:
- tokenomics are published with a 12+ month team cliff and a float above ~15–20%;
- the exchange and vault code is opened or re-audited;
- the multisig signer set is disclosed.
Downgrade it if a low-float launch arrives with a large points airdrop and an undisclosed insider vesting schedule.
Rating (optional): Watchlist / Neutral. Product strength: high. Verifiability: medium. Tokenomics transparency: none yet.
9. Disclosures
No position. I do not hold Pacifica points or any related asset, and I was not compensated for this research. This is not investment advice.
