Multyr (MTRY): good engineering, a token with no claim on the fees
Written for the quest “Seeing the Long Game” with Myth Motion on The Republic.
Multyr is a pre-token DeFi allocation protocol on Arbitrum One, currently in shadow mainnet testing with deposits closed. I read the docs, the token tables, the audit folder and the contracts, because the interesting question isn't whether the code is sane. It is whether anything in the token design turns protocol success into holder value.
What it sells. Deposit USDC, receive ERC-4626 vault shares, and a keeper reallocates across lending strategies (Aave, Euler, Morpho, Compound, Venus adapters) inside constraints encoded in the contracts: per-adapter exposure caps, per-strategy loss caps, cost-gated rebalances, oracle freshness checks, rebalance cooldowns. Governance is a 3-of-5 Safe behind a 48-hour timelock. Fees are 0.25% in and out, 1.25% on instant exit, and 6% performance on positive NAV growth with a high-water mark. Of those fees, 70% route to the Treasury Safe. Multyr is admirably explicit that it does not generate yield — it sells the discipline of allocation on top of commodity lending yield. That is a real business, but it needs AUM, and AUM is currently zero.
The numbers. Supply is fixed at 300,000,000 MTRY, no inflation, minting disabled after issuance. Treasury 25%, Liquidity 15%, Early Participants 28.33%, Team 17%, Ecosystem 9.67%, Advisors 5%. The presale sells 800,000 USDC at 0.08 per preMTRY with a 4:1 conversion, so 40,000,000 MTRY at an implied $0.0200 — a $6.0M FDV. That 40M matches the PreMTRYClaim pool exactly, which is a good sign for how carefully the tables were built.
At TGE the only non-vesting, non-treasury float is the 45M Liquidity Safe: 15% of supply, roughly $0.90M at that price. FDV over float is 6.7x. The TGE trigger is calendar or treasury NAV per token at $0.028 — 1.4x the presale price, meaning the token can launch below what it just sold for. The docs do not say whether presale proceeds are credited to treasury NAV. If they are, the trigger is partly self-funded, and that is the question I would put to the team first.
Unlocks. Nominal cliffs look brutal: 100M tokens (33% of supply) become eligible at month six, and the 51M team tranche starts at month 12. The global unlock cap of 2% of supply per month — 6M tokens — is what actually governs float, and it turns that wall into a ramp: about 117M circulating by month 12. The bigger structural point is that 40% of supply (treasury plus liquidity) needs no unlock at all.
What is verifiable. Four Safes and a 6,589-byte timelock respond at the documented Arbitrum addresses. The HackenProof report (August 2026) is published in-repo and covers the token, presale and KYC gating. multyr-core took 201 commits between July and October 2026. What is not verifiable: no founder is named (the docs call contributors pseudonymous), the protocol core and strategy vaults remain unaudited, and the repos are Business Source License rather than open source.
Risks. The token has no claim on fees, assets or treasury — fee growth accrues to a Safe and is spent by governance, so a holder is long governance attention, not cash flow. The token launches before the vaults are externally audited. And 25% of supply sits unlocked in a 3-of-5 Safe from day one.
Disclosure: no position in MTRY or preMTRY, no compensation, grant or advisory relationship with Multyr, its Foundation or Labs, and no allocation requested. Not financial advice. The project had no public raise and no deployed token at the time of writing (24 October 2026); a presale is scheduled for Q4 2026, which changes that constraint.
What would change my mind: a published core audit with no critical findings plus 90 days of on-chain fee revenue, or a governance proposal that routes a defined share of retained fees to buyback or burn.
